The Future of the Black Presbyterian Church in Southern California

“This FREE leadership conference sponsored by the Chapter of Southern California, will provide FIVE models to consider for change and transformation in our congregations.” This Leadership Conference is open to Ruling Elders, Deacons, Clergy and Church Leaders. Dynamic speakers include: Rev. Linda Culbertson, Rev. Victor Cyrus-Franklin, Rev. Chineta Goodjohn, Rev. N’Yisrela Watts-Afriyie and Lead Pastor Harlan Redmond.  Click HERE to REGISTER before the deadline on October 21, 2022 at 5:00 pm PDT.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this conference is to explore a variety of models that (if applied); based upon the discernment of the needs of a particular congregation, may provide a way forward that will result in substantial congregational change and stability. This is a matter of extreme urgency given the amount of change relative to leadership and the continuous decline in membership a majority of our member congregations are faced with.

WHAT TO EXPECT: During the conference, there will be presentations offering opportunities to examine strategies for change that lead to stability and growth as well as a call for action by each congregation. Our presenters will share their insights about the application of the models being shared.

BACKGROUND: We (Black Presbyterians) are all aware, there have been transitions in pastoral leadership for many of our NBPC-SC congregations over the past 12 months. A number of our churches continue to face the challenge of aging congregations and declining memberships. These past two years of being faced with the many challenges brought on by the COVID-19 virus have only heightened our collective sense of urgency in discerning positive solutions under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

MEMBERSHIP: If you are a returning member or would like to become a member of NBPC-SC, you “add on” that option to pay your dues at registration.

*NOTE: Paying membership dues is not required to register for this event. This event is free of charge.
